Elizabeth Garner Griffin

Elizabeth Gayle Garner Griffin, 82, passed away April 30, 2024.  She was born July 6, 1941, in Sandersville, GA to the late Wilson and Elizabeth Louise Vickers Garner.  Mrs. Griffin was a R.N., having trained at Candler Hospital, and later working for the American Red Cross.  She also was the R.N. for the State Capital of Georgia, taking care of the medical needs of Legislators.  She also worked for other facilities in Augusta, Atlanta, Valdosta, and Tifton, GA, all while moving around with her husband’s job with Georgia Power.  Mrs. Griffin was a former member of Southside Baptist Church in Savannah, and attended the Episcopal Church in Augusta, and St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Atlanta.  She loved art and painting, and especially working in her yard planting flowers.  When she and James moved to a different city, they would dig up their azaleas and replant in their new yard.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Gordon Griffin of Moody, AL, daughter Elizabeth Griffin of Moody, brother, Gary Wilson Garner (Jenny), nephew Gary Garner, Jr., niece, Ginger Garner, and her fur baby daughter, Gabby, who was her loyal companion.

The Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 3, 2024, at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel with Rev. Alan Bosson officiating.   Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
